POCUS – Point of Care Ultrasound Equipment
POCUS is a portable ultra-sound device that was recently acquired for the Mission Memorial Hospital. This hand-held ultra-sound equipment will allow our physicians to readily monitor and assess changing patient conditions and the effectiveness of interventions.
POCUS was made possible by the generous support of local businessman Ken Selvaraja.
Mr. Selvaraja and Judith Ray of MATH presented the new Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) device to Dr. Lily Edelson who will be providing mentoring support for the introduction and use of this new diagnostic technique at Mission Memorial Hospital.
About Math
Initiated by a number of concerned citizens, MATH, the Mission All Together for Healthcare Society was formed as a community group. The objectives of MATH are to work in partnership with a variety of organizations, including the Mission Memorial Hospital, Fraser Health, and with others as opportunities arise.
The purpose of the MATH society is to support a model of health care that serves the citizens of the City of Mission and its neighbouring communities.
Help Us Raise $1,000,000
for a CT Scanner
A Computed Tomography machine (CT scanner) is a 3-D computerized x-ray imaging device that rotates around the patient to take successive cross-sectional photos or “image slices.” These image slices (tomographic images) can then be stacked by the computer into a precise 3-D rendering of the physical and the physiological processes of your body. The CT scanner helps doctors to diagnose and treat a variety of ailments by providing more accurate details than what is possible with conventional x-ray machines.
The benefits of CT scans far outweigh any associated risks. CT scans have helped revolutionize diagnosis and treatment and have dramatically decreased the need for exploratory surgeries and other potentially risky invasive procedures.
Your donations will support the purchase of necessary CT Scanning equipment for the Mission Memorial Hospital. Help us provide the most up-to-date medical equipment and the best possible health care to you…our patients.
