What is an MOA?

The MOA is an essential member of your medical team who supports patients, physicians, the medical office, other members of your medical team in delivering and receiving health care. They are there to help patients and health care providers.

What does an MOA do?

  • Answers the telephone
  • Makes appropriate appointments for patients
  • Does specialist referrals
  • Assists patients in navigating the office and health care system
  • Assists the doctor/nurse practitioner
    • ensures the office is properly equipped and set up
    • orders office supplies
    • does vital signs – blood pressure, weight, pulse, blood sugars
    • maintains the office equipment
  • Bills for doctor’s services
  • Immunization
  • Knows and uses the electronic medical record.

The MOA is your point of contact with the medical office; a key employee that ensures the office runs properly. Your MOA will appreciate your smile and appreciation of their work

How do I become and MOA?

Generally MOA certification is required.
