What is Mission Memorial Hospital?
Mission Memorial Hospital (MMH) is a community hospital providing quality humane services in Mission. It provides hospital services at the community level in cooperation with our sister hospitals in the province especially with our regional hospital, Abbotsford Regional Hospital (ARH).
History
Like every small community hospital, general practitioner physicians provided most services at MMH including maternity, anesthesia, surgery, emergency and pediatrics. The increasing complexity of providing these services brought consultant care to the community with GPs supporting the visiting consultants. Consultant care required more supportive services which are not available in smaller facilities requiring centralization of some services, such as pediatrics and obstetrics. Our hospital, like other smaller hospitals, had some services relocated, but continues to provide many needed services to the community.
